Purpose of the role:

The Product Owner is responsible for the product (life cycle) and managing the product backlog in order to maximize the value of product delivery.

Manages teams to transfer the project/product vision to design, development, and delivery. Guides the team through the product backlog toward building the right product, considering the vision, planning, and budgets of the business/customers/users.

This fundamental role is in close collaboration with other Product Owners and functions such as Product Manager. You are the expert on your product and use your knowledge and drive for designing and delivering new or upgraded products or functionalities within your area of expertise.

As this is a fairly new role within MS-Digital Services there is room for own interpretation and freedom to create this role (based upon experience elsewhere/theory/own intelligence)

Day to day responsibilities:

  • You define and own the product functionalities and convert them into a Product backlog for own area and technical specifications (i.e. breaking down the solution into epics and user stories) and prioritize the backlog based on input from stakeholders:
    • Input from Product managers (evolution)
    • Product improvements, enhancements and bugs
    • Operational improvements (e.g. cost reduction, improving conversion)
  • You cooperate closely with stakeholders, both business (Product Managers, Business owners, Sponsors, Client operations), and technical (delivery teams, other Product Owners, and PMO) to align with epics and user stories and finalize requirements
  • You work with the squad(s) to create epics (Product Manager creates initiatives) translate the User Stories into Tasks in order to define sprint(planning) to deliver the best possible value
  • You  provide the Product Manager with information to prioritize the business initiatives in order to manage the dependencies within and across tribes pro-actively (estimates/timelines/solutions).
  • You manage dependencies in cooperation with internal and external teams (vendors) and ensure deliveries
  • You are responsible for (end-to-end) functional quality of the product delivering and organizing support on the product (directly – indirectly via partners)

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Able to communicate with both technical and non-technical staff at all levels in the organization, including senior management
  • A natural leader that creates support and is comfortable in taking decisions based on input from stakeholders and product vision
  • A strong team player, who supports the team and puts team and business objectives first
  • Used to work remote with team(members)
  • Knowledge of English and Polish at very good level – we work globally
  • Bachelor degree
