The Opportunity

Linux system administration is a process of setting up, configuring, and managing a computer system in a Linux environment. System administration involves creating a user account, taking reports, performing backup, updating configuration files, documentation, and performing recovery actions. The user who manages the server, fixes configuration issues, recommends new software updates, and updates document is the system administrator.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities​

• Linux OS Install and maintain of Linux software.
• Perform daily system monitoring, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
• Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
• Create, change, and delete user accounts per request as necessary.
• Knowledge of Logical volume manager (LVM)
• Maintain of NTP server and client communication
• Manage of Monitoring Server
• Manage of Patch Management (Software installation)
• Java installation and configuration
• Apache Tomcat installation and configuration.
• Coordinate with application or DB team for Disk space or any system relate issue.
• Monthly patch update on all linux server.

• Last 3 years working experience should be in Unix / Linux Domain
• Worked on Linux like Redhat , Centos, Fadora etc.
• Excellent attention to OS and application problems ,as quickly and accurately
• Worked on VM Exsi host server.
• Install and maintain security patches on the operational and development system.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
• Knowledge of ssl and openssl for security.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
• Create, change, and delete user accounts per request as necessary.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
• Knowledge of Logical volume manager (LVM) ,NTP server and client configuration, Monitoring Server (Nagios, Zabbix, etc...), Patch Management (kick-start, Spacewalk), Mail server (Send mail, Postfix)
• Java installation and configuration, Apache Tomcat installation and configuration
